EOC Week 6 Seduction of the Online Surfer

Film is a disease. When it infects your bloodstream, it takes over as the number one hormone; it bosses the enzymes; directs the pineal gland; plays Iago to your psyche. As with heroin, the antidote to film is more film. -Frank Capra
  1. "The average American attention span in 2013 was about 8 seconds. The average attention span in 2000 was 12 seconds. And then get this kicker - the average attention of a goldfish is 9 seconds." -Market (Radio Program)

In this day and age, the attention span of an average American is 8 seconds. That is how long you have to "seduce" an online surfer, and the way I intend to capture the attention of an online surfer is to have content that is not only satisfying but worth sharing with everyone. I have a website and in order to maintain it I have to constantly keep updating it with new pieces, weekly. As all my work becomes watched, I will have a page where it shows what's coming soon to the website that way people will keep coming back and see what's new, and keep them anticipated for it. Another way that I plan to get people to keep coming to my site is to have a list of future projects lined up and I will write a synopsis about each project and have people vote on which project they are excited to see happen. That way I can build a fan base and continue to trend my work.

How will you organize your job search time and follow up to get results?

I will organize my job search time by networking with other people while I am working. I meet new people everyday and those people are potential future clients. I will also look through various job searching website such as indeed.com and monster.com. I will either call, email or fax employers for follow ups to get results.

EOC Deeper meaning of Devil Wears prada

Deeper Meaning of Devil Wears Prada

Dolce Gabana, Lou Vutton, Kate Spade. Just a few of the names that should automatically come to mind when you are a person in the fashion industry. This movie is filled with do’s and do not’s, when it comes to getting a job in the real world. The Movie centers around Andrea and she is a journalist that gets a job at one of the top fashion magazines in New York. She is oblivious to the fact of how big of a deal it is to get a position at this company and one that is especially close to working with a Legend like Miranda. Although this movie may seem like a comedy, it really does not shape up to be when you analysis it a bit further. The movie is about learning from your mistakes and realizing what it takes to be somewhere where you want to be in your chosen career field. It comes to show that it is imperative to research and prepare for the career that you are heading in to, because it is not as easy as it seems. You have to be able to take every opportunity and turn it in to something worth your while. In addition to taking every opportunity, there are many sacrifices that we must make. That sacrifice is time, with other people, especially those that you love. There must be a time in your life where you need to find out what matters to you most. Sometimes you lose people and sometimes you do not, but all that matters is that you are who you are and you are happy with yourself.

Week 3 EOC "Deeper Meaning of Swingers"

find an article about networking, paste the link. 3 articles about work, 25 word quote. 300 words and analyze the movie swingers.
Homework: 10 business card and write a word document analyzing the movie swingers. and put it in the dropbox.

Deeper Meaning of Swingers
Swingers is a movie, that on the surface shows a story of a man that is having trouble letting go of the past and moving on to the future. If one were to analyze this film any further you can see it as a movie about a man trying to get the job that would make his life better. For example, every man’s job is to find a woman make her happy and live happily ever after. Well the story never really ends up that way, but we all want it to. As a man I can safely say that we never really admit that we want love, but in this film in particular it seems that Jon Favreau’s character just want’s love.
In addition to that statement, this movie gives off the message that if you want something you are going to have to try your hardest to be confident that you can get what you want. In the beginning of Mike’s journey he started off by doubting himself, when in reality he just needed to be patient and confident. Because like every other human being you are going to hit obstacles somewhere in your life, you just have to the confidence to bounce back from them, and that is the same concept as getting a job. Because sometimes you miss out on an opportunity to get a job you really want, but sometimes you have to be optimistic and know there will be something out there for you.

In conclusion the movie swingers is more than a movie about love it is a movie about a defeated man who lost his job that he had for 6 years and now he is trying to get a new job. A job that was better than his last.

1. http://www.businessknowhow.com/tips/networking.htm

According to this article, "Keep in mind that networking is about being genuine and authentic, building trust and relationships, and seeing how you can help others." is there number one quote, I guess as people often forget that over conversing with people all day.

2. http://blogs.hbr.org/2012/10/the-serendipitous-entrepreneur/

I thought this article had two really good quotes,

"The best networking suggestion I can offer? Always say yes to invitations, even if it’s not clear what you’ll get out of the meeting."

"When you want something, broadcast that to everyone you meet."
